Many Morristown residents enjoy riding their motorcycles, but riding a bike can be hazardous if other drivers are not aware of the rider. Because they are so vulnerable to injury during a motor vehicle accident, motorcyclists often take the worse punishment when compared to those riding inside an enclosed vehicle. One such incident occurred in early December when driver's negligence may have caused a motorcyclist to run off the road.
According to Bloomingdale police, the incident happened at about 1:15 in the afternoon on Union Avenue. When they arrived at the scene, they found the biker complaining of pain in his ribcage. The motorcyclist said that as he was driving down the road, another vehicle pulled out of in front of him. To avoid a collision, the biker drove his bike off the street and crashed. The man was taken to Morristown Memorial Hospital for treatment.
While the official police report as to what happened in this case has yet to be released, it would appear that one driver's negligence contributed to the accident when he or she failed to see the motorcyclist and pulled out in front of the rider. This type of action can lead to serious injury or even death to motorcycle operators who are either hit or have to take evasive action to avoid a collision. If the other driver involved in the incident is located, the motorcyclist in this case may have legal options available through civil action in order to recoup medical expenses and other expenses he may have incurred due to the accident.
